Would be great to be able to organize the media into folders - Perhaps a search function could be useful here also. Perhaps the ability to favorite media and displaying it in a dedicated "Favorites" folder would also be an idea.

Another approach would be tagging. This way the images could be assigned on several places and not just one folder. The tags could still be shown as folders in the UI. (similar the way gmail handles folders)

This is a great suggestion. I like that tagging allows the appearance of folders in UI but functions more practically.
